Ljubaništa (Ljubanishta) – St. Paraskeva

Church of Saint Paraskeva (Sveta Petka) Света Петка near Ljubaništa (Љубаништа, Ljubanishta)

Near the village of Ljubanishta is this newly built church dedicated to Saint Paraskeva of the Balkans of the 11th century.  The church is also located very close to the St. Naum Monastery complex and to the spot where the river Crni Drim (Black Dream) enters Lake Ohrid.  Due to its close vicinity to St. Naum it is frequently visited and serves as a source of Sveta Voda (Holy Water).

Тhe church you see now is newly built and was consecrated in 2010.  Previously, a shrine to Sveta Petka has been at this location (see last four pictures in the gallery below from 1999).
