Dudin

Dudin Winery – Дудин Винарија

Located near the town of Negotino in the Povardarie wine region of Macedonia, Dudin is a family winery with the tradition of passing on the knowledge and craftsmanship of wine making from one generation to the next.  The winery has an intimate setting for a private wine tasting and also has a large room for huge gatherings.  Vaska Dudin who handles the marketing and public relations for the winery is an artist and the halls of the winery are adorned with her art.

With a capacity of 500,000 liters and annual production of 750,000 liters, the winery focuses on crafting quality wines from select varietals.  Their rosé, crafted from Cabernet Sauvignon, is exquisite. It has a refreshing bouquet of red raspberries, cherries and strawberries, a wonderful palate and is guaranteed to delight any wine connoisseur or novice

For white wines, Dudin produces quality wines from these varietals: Chardonnay, Riesling, Sauvignon Blanc and Temjanika (Muscat).  They also have a barriqued Chardonnay called “Akrato” that is aged 12 months in oak barrels.  The bouquet first introduces you to refreshing pineapples, followed by tropical fruits, and a touch of honey.  The barre aging compliments the wine with delicate embraces of vanilla and oak.

For red wines, Dudin uses the Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot.  From both varietals they also produce the Akrato label of barriqued wines also aged 12 months in oak barrels.  “Akrato” in old Macedonian means “pure wine”. The Akrato Merlot is a full-body dry red with dark ruby color and a black forest bouquet that is rich in black currant and features a parade of forest fruits, one berry after another.  The Akrato Cabernet Sauvignon, also rich in color, full-bodied and dry, is another hit parade of forest fruits with blueberries playing the dominant role.

Driving Directions.

The Dudin Winery is located in Negotino, approximately 95 kilometers south of Skopje on the main highway (E-75) to Gevgelija.  The drive will take you anywhere from 1 hour 15 minutes to an hour and a half depending on your driving habits.  About 53 kilometers after leaving Skopje you will pass the town of Veles.  After another 27 kilometers you will see the turn off for Stobi.  Keep driving towards Gevgelija.

The turn off for Negotino is about 14 kilometers after Stobi.  After you exit the highway for Negotino turn left at the first crossroad right after you pass the Makpetrol station. The town of Negotino will be on your right but you will turn left and continue straight.  When you come to a crossroad, the road to the right will go across the Vardar River but you will continue going straight.  Continue for another 2 km and you will see a yellow building on your right with blue gate. That is the Dudin Winery.
