Janče (Janche)


The Mountain Village of Janče (Janche) – Село Јанче

The village of Janče (Janche) is located about 36 kilometers southwest of Mavrovo and 16 kilometers northeast of Debar in the Mavrovo National Park on the Bistra mountain massif.  Janče  is one of the more picturesque and culturally significant villages located in the Bistra massif such as Galičnik (Galichnik), Gari, Lazaropole, Kičinica (Kichinitsa), and Tresonče (Tresonche). According to the 2002 census, this village had a population of 146.

Janče is one of the oldest settlements located in the Mijačija area (Radika River area). Located nearby to Janče is the Jovan Bigorski Monastery and the Deer Leap Bridge (Elesnki Skok) that spans across the Radika River.
