The Village of Suv Orah (Сув Орах)
Also known as Orah or Suvi Orah (dried walnuts), the village is located about 26 kilometers (16.3 miles) east of the center of Kumanovo in the Staro Nagoričane (Staro Nagorichane) municipality in the foot hills of Mount Kozjak. Not to be confused with the Kozjak mountain in Prilep, this mountain is located on the Macedonian border with Serbia. The highest peak on Mount Kozjak is Virovi at 1,284 meters.
One of Macedonia’s important monasteries, the Karpino Monastery (Karpinski Manastir) dedicated to St. Mary is located here. North of the border in Serbia is another famous monastery on Mount Kozjak, The Monastery of Venerable Prohor of Pčinja, or commonly referred to as Prohor Pčinjski. It was at the St. Prohor Pčinjski Monastery on 2 August 1944, that the Anti-fascist Assembly for the National Liberation of Macedonia (ASNOM) held its first session.
